Creating Live Events in YouTube

With the relatively new feature in YouTube, you can create a Live Event which uses the Google Hangouts On Air platform. The benefits to using these are:

You can optimize the Hangout ahead of time

You get the YouTube URL and the embed code before the broadcast

You can build links to it

You can embed it in a blog post or on a web page and then build links to those

With the ability to create the event ahead of time, you can manufacture a buzz around the event using a combination of links, embeds, and social signals. The more interest you create, the better they will rank.

I have been able to rank for some moderately competitive keywords by using this method. In fact, I’ve seen one of these rank within minutes of the broadcast going live.

In this video, I show how to enable the Live Event feature in YouTube and then give some suggestions on how to get the best results from syndication and promotion.

How To Join Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts are a fun and amazing way to network and collaborate online. And they are quite easy to use once you’re setup properly.

In this video I show how easy it is to get setup to join Google Hangouts. There are only a few steps that you need to take to get ready:

1. Google account (Gmail)
2. Install the Hangout plugin
3. Webcam and microphone (headphones)
4. High speed internet connection

Then be sure to give you Gmail address to the person that is initiating the Hangout so they can send you the invitation.

Changing the Yoast RSS Feed Back to Dofollow

In this video I show how to quickly and easily change the Yoast SEO RSS Feed settings back so that the attribution links are dofollow links.

In November of 2013, the Yoast developers decided that they were going to hard code the attribution link with the nofollow attribute. And they didn’t give us an option!

Well, if you’re intentionally syndicating your content for SEO purposes and your using your RSS feed to do it, then this has reduced the effectiveness of the inbound links produced by your feed.

So I have found a way to fix this with very little effort. This video will show you how.
